“I got the number and it starts to ring… I get excited and I start to dream... I start to fantasize of memory lane... Then she answers and she says right away, she says ,”I’m home on my own. Home all alone.” So I got off the phone!”  Ah, while it’s been over 25 years since Rick Nielsen penned this sweet staple which Robin Zander infectiously belted out alongside “Surrender” and countless others for CHEAP TRICK, this go sign under 4 minutes duly distills the heaven to be had this night assembled and helmed by the kitchen WEEZER.

Helping to further celebrate another triumphant Olympic Asian year, a triumvirate of treats to eat within one of Tokyo’s famed Kenzo Tange-designed venues for Nippon’s inaugural ‘64 edition plays a most poignantly ambient host for all at this table to share.  This feast is full as both native fares GOING UNDER GROUND and ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION keep all in this massive hall lavishly fed with all are aware that the main course to come from this trans-Pacific galley is just simmering away to be savored shortly.

In recognizing their own penchant to serve their bounty of flavorful fare in a variety of ways since 1994 when I first sampled theirs in NYC, chefs Rivers Cuomo (vocals, guitar, drums), Pat Wilson (drums, guitar, vocals), Scott Shriner (bass, vocals) and Brian Bell (guitar, vocals) commence a heavy appetizer session serving in the middle of their restaurant National de Yoyogi. Delightfully, those present receive more than just a strong savory whiff from their kitchen in getting an all-acoustic resonant appetizer set of “Island In The Sun,” “El Scorcho” and “Beverly Hills” before taking helm of each respective position within their elevated kitchen located in the back of the house for all to relish, punctuating with a tempting topping from their latest “red” menu.

After concocting high-sellers blue, green and red alongside others, one must wonder which color is next? Well, I am hedging my bets for orange, but no matter the decision nor season, more treats than tricks to be always had from them and their international offspring, keeping it tight and far from any surrender:
