To an entire generation of punks now in their 30s, Rancid was the only cool contemporary punk band. Nevermind they were from California- they had the snotty blue collar attitudes of the Dead Boys and the fashion sense of the Pistols.
Through the years Rancid splintered off, working on different projects including the Transplants.
In early 2008 the band started recording the seventh Rancid record with producer Brett Gurewitz (who has produced four previous Rancid records).
The band is currently on tour to promote the new record, scheduled for release this summer.
