Manhattan School of Music's Agness Nyama
By THIRSTY
Agness Nyama is a fourth-year Bachelors Degree candidate at Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of Joan Patenaude-Yarnell and has already become a mezzo-soprano force in the making. Nyama has performed in Les Misérables, Blood Brothers, Falstaff, La Rondine and Sweeny Todd, but it was her performance as Desiree Armfeldt in Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music and her interpretation of "Send in the Clowns" that caught the critics and our attention. An AP review that appeared in The New York Times specifically remarked on her "gleaming voice and assured tone" that contributed to her exciting performance. In our opinion, Agness Nyama is a performer to watch and Stay Thirsty Magazine is pleased to name her our THIRSTY SPOTLIGHT artist for Summer 2015.
